San Diego 4th of July DUI Arrests Down From Last Year
Fewer San Diego DUI arrests were made over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, compared to last year, according to the California Highway Patrol.
This year’s holiday weekend there were 88 arrests made from people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs on San Diego roads and highways, 66 less than in 2008. No traffic fatalities occurred on San Diego roads this year, compared to three in 2008.
According to the California Highway Patrol, throughout the state of California there were 16 traffic fatalities over the Fourth of July weekend. 1239 DUI drivers were taken to jail on suspicion of drunk driving.
Driving Under the Influence in San Diego County
In California, it is unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle while under the influence of any kind of alcoholic beverage or drug.
If you have 0.08 percent or more, by weight, blood alcohol concentration, you will be charged with DUI or driving while intoxicated if arrested. You may face a fine and jail time if convicted.
