An El Cajon Suspected DUI Driver Hits Man Pushing Stalled Car

In San Diego a suspected drunken driver hits a man pushing his stalled vehicle off Interstate 805 early Tuesday morning seriously injuring his leg.

The San Diego motorist, 32 year old Gerardo Perez was pushing his 2000 Toyota Corolla off the freeway after it stalled on Interstate 805 near State Route 163 about 2:15 in the morning when he and his vehicle were hit by a suspected DUI driver in a 1988 Honda Accord, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Brad Baehr.

When Perez was struck by the Honda Accord, he sustained severe injuries to his leg and was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

Charlene June Festa, 39, of El Cajon appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the San Diego DUI crash. The suspected DUI driver was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for injuries. Festa remains in Santee’s La Colinas women’s jail. She was booked on suspected felony DUI.

Driving Under the Influence in San Diego County

In California, it is unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle while under the influence of any kind of alcoholic beverage or drug.

If you have 0.08 percent or more, by weight, blood alcohol concentration, you will be charged with DUI or driving while intoxicated if arrested. You may face a fine and jail time if convicted.
