DUI Charge For Former Pitching Star Dwight Gooden

A driving under the influence, DUI arrest for a former New York Mets and Yankees pitcher after being involved in an accident that occurred in New Jersey.

Retired pitcher Dwight Gooden, 45, who was arrested for DUI, and charged for reckless driving, endangering a child and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident after being involved in a 2 car accident where he had a child in his vehicle. No one was hurt.

Gooden has had run ins with the law before with a prior drug history including alcohol and cocaine. He was suspended by the MLB 2 times for testing positive to drugs and spent time in jail.

The former 1984 NL Rookie of the Year and CY Young Award recipient who was arrested for DUI and other charges on Tuesday was released on his own recognizance until a court hearing date is set.

San Diego DUI Charge for “Real World’s” Reality Star Puck

A San Diego DUI charge for “The Real World San Francisco” star David Rainey, after losing control of his car on Friday night on a San Diego Highway, according to San Diego CHP Officer Brian Pennings.

Rainey “Puck” was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence “Due to his level of intoxication, he was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway,” said Officer Pennings. Rainey’s 8 year old son was seriously injured in the accident that left the vehicle upside down in a roll over accident on San Diego’s Highway 79.

The two were headed for a fishing trip when Rainey swerved to avoid hitting a deer in his path on Route 79. The suspected DUI driver and his son were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for broken bones and internal bruising. They are reported to be in serious condition.

The former reality celebrity will be charged with driving without a license and child endangerment.

San Diego DUI Enforcement in Encinitas Nets 13 Arrests over St. Patrick’s Day

San Diego DUI enforcement was out in full force over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday in Encinitas, Del Mar and Solana Beach, netting 13 arrests involving alcohol related incidents, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The San Diego DUI alcohol enforcement operation took place on Wednesday from 9:00 p.m. and lasted until 3:30 a.m. on Thursday. Officers were looking fo drunken drivers, drunk in public and other San Diego DUI alcohol related offenses. The Department of Alcohol Beverage Control issued a grant to fund the alcohol enforcement operation.

Thirteen people were arrested for suspected public intoxication. There were two people given citations for smoking in a public place. People caught driving on a suspended license or without a license will have their vehicles confiscated by officers and will be impounded for 30 days at the expense of the driver.

St. Patrick’s Day along with other major “party” holidays such as New Year’s Eve, Superbowl Sunday, Memorial Weekend and the 4th of July where alcohol is predominantly the guest of honor, alcohol related crimes tend to rise.

San Diego DUI Crash Involving Teen Arrested

A 19 year-old boy was taken into custody for suspected DUI after running a red light and crashing into another vehicle on Sunday, according to Chula Vista police.

The suspected DUI driver was traveling on Palomar Street in Chula Vista when he ran a red light at Olympic Parkway and ran into another car driven by a 51 year-old woman about 4:45 a.m. After her car rolled over, police had to free her by breaking her car window.

The hurt woman was transported to a local hospital where she sustained moderate injuries from the DUI collision, according to Lt. Fritz Reber.

The suspected teenage drunk driver who had no proof of insurance was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury.

San Diego Man Charged With DUI in Utah

A San Diego man was taken into custody at the Port of Entry in Utah for allegedly operating a commercial vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief.

Tyson Allan Whitney of San Diego had stopped at the northbound Port of Entry off of Interstate 15 to purchase a permit after leaving Las Vegas sometime after 10:00 a.m. A port officer suspected that the 26 year old had been drinking by the smell of alcohol on his breath, according to Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Rob Tersigni.

Driving a commercial vehicle while intoxicated can have severe penalties. The FMCSA Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration defines commercial DUI as driving a commercial motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .04 or higher.

It is unlawful for any person to drive a commercial motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.04 percent or more by weight. Whitney was arrested for DUI and later released on $1882 bail.
