San Diego DUI Suspect Arrested after Fleeing Scene of Crash into Santee Fire Hydrant
A San Diego DUI suspect was taken into custody after crashing into a Santee fire hydrant and fleeing the scene, according to a San Diego Sheriff’s Sergeant.
After crashing his vehicle into a fire hydrant around 12:30 a.m. at Woodside and Magnolia in Santee, the suspected San Diego DUI driver, 25 year-old Austin Pinto fled the scene while water was shooting up into the air, said Sergeant Brent Strahm.
Pinto who was suspected of driving under the influence had sped away with his headlights off. He was pulled over a short time later by a deputy who noticed that there was damage to Pinto’s vehicle and there were marks on the car from yellow paint and that it was wet.
The suspected drunk driver was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing damage to property.
