San Diego DUI Arrests during Thanksgiving Holiday Comparable to Last Year
San Diego DUI arrests during the Thanksgiving holiday were about the same as 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol.
During the first 60 hours into the Thanksgiving holiday there were 59 people arrested for driving under the influence in San Diego. One fatality was reported on Interstate 5 near Basilone Road. In 2009, there were 58 people that were arrested for San Diego DUI and again only one fatality.
Throughout the state of California, drunken driving arrests were higher than in 2009. There were 975 people taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and 11 fatalities reported. At the same time last year, there were 904 DUI arrests made and 11 people died in alcohol related DUI crashes.
The California Highway Patrol will be out in full force and will boost patrols in San Diego County during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend keeping drunken drivers off the road.

Driving under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug in California is against the law.
If you have a 0.08 percent or more by weight, of alcohol in your blood, you will be charged with a DUI if apprehended. You could be facing fines and jail time if convicted.
