Escondido DUI Checkpoint Nets 21 Citations
An Escondido DUI checkpoint was conducted on Saturday March 26 in an effort to keep drunken drivers off the road netted 21 citations.
The Escondido DUI checkpoint occurred near El Norte Parkway and Washington Avenue. While demonstrators tried to reroute drivers away from the DUI checkpoint, Escondido police issued 16 people citations for driving without a license. Two were cited for not having insurance, and there were three motorist cited for having a suspended license.
One man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he was involved in an accident. Another motorist who made a sudden turn after passing the demonstrators was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI after he was stopped by an officer for a vehicle code violation.
