Suspected DUI Driver Killed Pedestrian in Sabre Springs
A man was arrested in Sabre Springs on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after losing control of his car and killing a woman in her mid 60’s, according to San Diego police.
Carl William David, 35, a transient from Ramona was driving in the 12600 block of Sabre Springs Parkway just before 9:30am when he lost control of his car and drove onto the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian who was on a morning walk. Sandra Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene. Kennedy had just retired from the San Diego Unified School District.
According to prosecutors, the man suspected to be driving under the influence admitted to using Methamphetamines for 3 days prior to the Sabre Springs fatal accident. He was said to be high on a meth binge.
The DUI driver who faces up to 10 years if convicted is being held on $250,000 bail for felony gross vehicular manslaughter, drunk driving causing injury, and driving on a suspended license. David was not convicted in another DUI arrest he had in 2003.
